The new academic year has begun and now, I am a third year student. There’s pride and melancholy that comes with that fact. Pride because you have made it so far and you are proud of yourself for that. But melancholy because this is the final year. This will all be over soon.
Honestly, I do enjoy my time being an undergraduate student. I have great classmates whom I completely respect and had loads of fun with. The subjects that I have taken so far have been challenging and have helped me to grow a lot. Thus, I truly enjoyed every single good and bad experience so far.
Today, my university had an orientation for the year 1 students that have enrolled for the University of London International Programmes. The orientation was planned by the student council in the University of London department in my university and I helped a bit in planning some of the games for the year 1 students. Anyhow, watching the year 1 students pour into the theatre makes me think of the time when I was a year 1 student again. There was a nostalgic feeling.
Our head of department gave a speech, stating that our course is challenging. Well, it is challenging. Listening to that speech made me want to give some of my own pearls of wisdom to these wide-eyed fresh year 1 students.
Anyhow, this is for anyone who just decided to take University of London International Programmes.
This course is going to be challenging. That’s true. But if this is your passion, keep at it. Don’t ever give up. Keep on going. Do your best! If anything, the challenge from this course will keep you on your toes. You can let that bring you down or enjoy every moment. Find coursemates and make new friends because you need to know that you are not alone. Not a lot of people will understand your course or how it works. That will make you alone but you really aren’t alone.
Don’t focus on the grades or your results. Just focus on learning and doing your best in the exam. Do your best to stay calm. Have pride in yourself. You are doing a difficult course and you are managing well. Remember that your results does not determine your worth and it’s just a result. And no matter what your results are, always aim for the best and strive better in the next year. Just remember to believe in yourself.
Personally, I am proud to be a University of London International Programmes student. I have learnt so much about myself and also my passion which is Economics.
Well, I am in my year 3 now. My goal is to get First Class honours. The only way to do that this year is to score straight As for all four of my subjects.
This may sound like a tall order but it’s not impossible. This is my mission and I accept it wholeheartedly. I’m just going to do my best.
Whether or not I will score straight As, I’ll leave that to the examiners.
But no matter what happens, I will not regret taking this course.
So now, I have to choose what four subjects I want to take for this year by the end of this week and then, my mission begins.
Let’s start this academic year with a bang!
