When my exams ended, I told myself that this would be one of the best summers ever.
That is why, before the exams started, my classmates and I were considering what we should do during our summer. One of the ideas that came up is an internship.
I like that our course is flexible and it’s completely our choice if we want to apply for an internship or not. I applied for internship in a few firms and banks.
I was rejected by some big accounting firms and I remember feeling severely upset. Being rejected wasn’t a nice feeling and things felt worse when some of my classmates got accepted.
Anyway, my classmates and I wanted to apply for internships because we wanted to be productive in our summer break. In our last summer break, some of us didn’t really do anything but stay at home. I spent most of my summer break last year catching up with friends, reading and writing. Even though I know I didn’t really do much last summer, the last summer break allowed me to completely rest and rejuvenate myself. So when the new school year started, I was completely ready.
But this year, I thought that maybe I should be more productive. Anyhow, in the end, I got accepted into a smaller accounting firm. Today is my first day. I just came back from first day.
Honestly, I must admit that I miss not having my time to myself anymore. However, I did enjoy my first day of my internship. Being in a real organization and learning how they function is really interesting. Even though as an intern, the work I get is really simple, I enjoy the fact that the firm is trying to teach me. I can see that working life and student life is very different and they are both interesting in their own ways.
Anyhow, with my current internship, I am not sure how I am going to manage my other plans I have for the summer. Yes, I did have other plans. Those plans are relatively simple. I just want to read and write. I’m wondering how I am going to insert both writing and reading in my summer with my current internship.
Anyway, I am having a pretty great summer because this is the first time I am going through an internship so everything is new to me.
I hope that everyone is also having a pretty fun summer themselves!
