Assumptions of people

Free time? What is that? Most other university courses held in my country have assignments and examinations. However, they do not have a final examination that completely decides the grades for that year. Instead, they have many tiny exams that add up to make the final grades.

Since my course does not have assignments and other tiny examinations, people assume that I have a lot of free time or that my course is easier in that sense. To some people, this means that I don’t have to study until the examinations are nearby and thus, I have loads of free time.

However, their assumption is obviously wrong. I don’t have a lot of free time. If anything, I wish I had more time and sadly, time is one thing we cannot have more of. We only have a certain amount of hours a day and we need to plan to use it well.

Anyhow, I do find it annoying when people assume that I have a lot of free time because I honestly don’t.

Just going to classes, reading both the subject guide and textbooks takes up a lot of my time. Actually, that takes up most of my time anyway.

And the thing about learning is, you usually don’t understand the subject matter in the first reading; thus, I have to read a few more times before I understand it.

Even though I only have one final examination doesn’t mean I have lots of free time.

After all, University of London International Programmes is one course that you don’t want to study for at the last minute because I am almost certain that if you study that way, the chance of failing is very high.

Anyhow, I am certain everyone is currently in full swing for the academic year. I wish everyone good luck in their studies because a little good luck never hurts!

Carmen is studying the BSc Economics and Management at a recognised centre in Malaysia.
